Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, desires vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them few options but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can anticipate discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
